our story

tradition, dedication, and a vision for the future

Since 1989, this land has been part of our family, witnessing our dreams and the unwavering effort to make them a reality. What began as a small family project has evolved over the years, fueled by our passion for coffee and our commitment to preserving traditions while embracing innovation.

In 1993, we had a modest manual pulper that we used to process small amounts of coffee: the floaters, the pickings, and the unripened cherries. This coffee was for our own consumption and local sales. However, the rest of our harvest had to be delivered to large processors, as we didn’t have the means to fully process it ourselves.

That changed in 2005 when we decided to take a leap forward. With great effort and dedication, we gradually improved our milling equipment. By the 2007-2008 harvest, we were able to comply with the ICAFE guidelines and obtained our own milling code. This opened the door for us to compete on equal footing with other producers. That same year, we participated for the first time in the prestigious Cup of Excellence 2008, and to our surprise and immense pride, we won first place!

This achievement would not have been possible without the collective work of our family: my mother, my sister and her husband, as well as my husband and me. Our coffee was handled with the utmost care, from picking the cherries only at their peak ripeness to sun-drying them on African beds, constantly turning them to achieve the perfect moisture level. This entirely artisanal process, along with the dedication of everyone who supported us, led us to receive this distinguished recognition—a defining moment in our history.

After 2008, we focused on perfecting our processes to achieve even higher levels of quality. In 2013, we returned to the Cup of Excellence competition with two special lots: "Los 5 Hijos" ("The 5 Children"), a tribute to the five children who bring life to our farm, which ranked 13th, and "El Beneficio", which earned 5th place. These results strengthened our passion and commitment to producing exceptional coffee.

Shortly after, a miracle occurred: through natural pollination between our red Catuai and yellow Catuai plants, we began to produce orange Catuai. This coffee yielded a high-quality cup with a unique, tangerine-like flavor. With this, we participated once again in the prestigious competition, earning 19th, 8th, and 7th places, proving to the world that we maintain our high-quality standards and that our coffee consistently achieves some of the highest scores in the country.

Today, we remain dedicated to improving every day, experimenting with new processes and techniques to once again reach the pinnacle of excellence. But our dreams extend beyond coffee. We are committed not only to producing high-quality coffee but also to diversifying our farm by becoming a model for rural tourism and the cultivation of paulownias for sustainable timber.

This is the story of our farm—a story of passion, dedication, and vision. We want to share the essence of what we do with you and, with your support, continue writing new chapters on this path toward excellence and sustainability.
